Disney to bundle Disney+, ESPN+ and Hulu to take on Netflix Today’s subscription roundup is all about the battle of the giants. First up, the streaming wars between Disney and Netflix continues to intensify as Disney CEO, Bob Iger, unveiled new plans to take on its arch-rival. The company has announced a streaming package that will include Disney+, ESPN+ and Hulu for the same price as Netflix. Disney’s new move is our main highlight in this week’s subscription roundup. We then look at Walmart which is preparing to fight off Amazon by launching an India-focused streaming service through its subsidiary Flipkart. In other news, Spotify has tied up with AT&T to counter a similar move by Apple Music which has a partnership with Verizon. Disney announces a bundled streaming package

Disney vs Netflix has become the streaming war to watch out for! Disney CEO Bob Iger has just announced a new bundled package with Disney+, ESPN+ and Hulu at an attractive price of $12.99. Subscribing to these services separately would cost around $19 per month, which means that the bundled package is a sweeter deal. Netflix charges $12.99 for its Standard streaming plan which gives access to content on multiple devices. Disney+ is all set to launch on 12th November.

Walmart plans an Indian streaming service to take on Amazon Prime Video

Walmart plans to launch a new streaming service in India through Flipkart, mirroring its arch-rival Amazon’s Prime Video service. The video streaming service will reportedly be free for members of the Flipkart Plus loyalty program. However, Flipkart will not be producing any original content and will instead license content from other media companies. Notably, Walmart acquired Flipkart in May 2018 for $16 billion.

Spotify partners with AT&T

Music streaming giant Spotify has entered into a new partnership with AT&T. This will allow AT&T Unlimited subscribers to get Spotify Premium free of charge. AT&T Unlimited users can select Spotify Premium as one of the two add-ons available, among options such as HBO, Cinemax and others. Notably, Apple Music has a similar partnership with Verizon.

The consumer robotics market is expected to grow fast over the next five years. According to a new report, 74 million consumer robots will be shipped in 2024, up from 24 million in 2019. However, the high price tags require vendors to think differently if they want to appeal to retail customers. Half of UK homes now have access to streaming subscriptions

A new Ofcom Media Nations report has revealed that half of UK households now subscribe to streaming services. The number of UK homes signed up to popular SVOD options such as Netflix, Amazon Prime Video, Now TV and/or Disney Life increased from 11.2 million in 2018 to 13.3 million in 2019. The total number of subscriptions rose from 15.6 million to 19.1 million.
