Subscription box market set to nearly double in size by 2022

The UK subscription box market is set to nearly double in size by 2022, according to newresearch by Royal Mail. The study reveals that the market is expected to grow from £583 million last year to £1 billion in the next four years, and consequently, the number of deliveries will grow from 40.1 million to 65.3 million. Around 27% of UK consumers currently subscribe to such services.

Apple is wooing newspapers to join its upcoming magazine subscription service

According to reports, Apple is all set to launch a magazine subscription service next year. Now, Apple wants leading newspapers and magazine publishers on board, and the tech giant is already in talks with The New York Times, Washington Post and The Wall Street Journal. Considering the fact that each of these newspapers has their own subscription service, will they come on board Apple’s new platform?

Spotify raises download limit to 10,000 songs

Popular music streaming service Spotify has increased its download limit to 10,000 songs from the rather odd 3,333 songs earlier. In addition, it has increased the number of devices you can download to from 3 to 5. It just goes to show that offline downloads still remain a popular way to consume music with Spotify subscribers.

Amazon may expand Prime subscription with offline benefits in India

Amazon is always looking at ways to offer something more to its Prime subscribers. In a bid to attract customers from smaller towns and cities in India to sign up for its subscription bundle, Amazon may now provide offline benefits in addition to the many online benefits. For instance, it is working with a company called ToneTag which will allow subscribers to walk out of restaurants without physically settling the bill.

Walmart acquires Cornershop to boost presence in Mexico and Chile

Retail giant Walmart has just acquired Cornershop, a leading marketplace for on-demand delivery in Mexico and Chile. Clearly, Walmart is trying to ramp up its presence in these emerging markets and boost omni-channel capabilities in the region. The news follows Walmart’s partnership with Rakuten, and its investments in Dada-JD Daojia in China and Flipkart in India.
