The UK subscription box market is set to nearly double in size by 2022, according to newresearch by Royal Mail. The study reveals that the market is expected to grow from £583 million last year to £1 billion in the next four years, and consequently, the number of deliveries will grow from 40.1 million to 65.3 million. Around 27% of UK consumers currently subscribe to such services.

Amazon may expand Prime subscription with offline benefits in India

Amazon is always looking at ways to offer something more to its Prime subscribers. In a bid to attract customers from smaller towns and cities in India to sign up for its subscription bundle, Amazon may now provide offline benefits in addition to the many online benefits. For instance, it is working with a company called ToneTag which will allow subscribers to walk out of restaurants without physically settling the bill.

Walmart acquires Cornershop to boost presence in Mexico and Chile

Retail giant Walmart has just acquired Cornershop, a leading marketplace for on-demand delivery in Mexico and Chile. Clearly, Walmart is trying to ramp up its presence in these emerging markets and boost omni-channel capabilities in the region. The news follows Walmart’s partnership with Rakuten, and its investments in Dada-JD Daojia in China and Flipkart in India.
