GO - Product Catalogue

Catalogue-driven digital BSS

GO is Malta’s leading communications and entertainment provider, delivering mobile, broadband, TV and fixed-line services to both residential and business customers. With a rapidly growing and complex product portfolio, GO required a solution that would simplify product management and accelerate the introduction of new offers.

As a Cerillion customer since 2001, GO has undertaken regular upgrades of its BSS/OSS platform and in the latest update rolled out Cerillion’s Enterprise Product Catalogue to provide a catalogue-driven digital BSS framework for managing all its products, packages and services, enabling faster launches, greater accuracy and streamlined operations.

The Challenges

GO’s product lifecycle evolved over many years, but an ever-growing catalogue, and increasing demand for new products, meant its existing processes were no longer sufficient. Key areas for improvement included:

  • Time-to-market: Creating and updating offers required more time and coordination across teams.
  • Data consistency: Product information needed closer alignment across back-office and customer-facing systems.
  • Operational effort: Managing thousands of products involved significant manual work that could be streamlined.

GO recognised the need for a future-proof, flexible product catalogue that could handle the scale and complexity of its full quad-play portfolio.

GO’s product catalogue is extensive – around 170 packages, 1,200 services, over 1,000 add-ons, 500 credit products, and over 300 one-time charges – more than 2,700 items in total.

The Solution

Cerillion worked closely with GO to fully understand its product management processes and evolving business needs, ensuring that every step of the implementation added real value. Through a collaborative approach, including regular workshops and open roadmap discussions, Cerillion ensured that Enterprise Product Catalogue met GO’s current and future requirements.

GO implemented Cerillion’s Enterprise Product Catalogue, replacing manual processes and scripting with a fully catalogue-driven product lifecycle and modern web-based user interface. This centralised system now acts as the single source of truth for all product data, driving efficiency across GO’s operations.

Key enhancements delivered with Enterprise Product Catalogue include:

  • Bulk updates to multiple products – for example, adjusting the price of a handset in multiple packages.
  • Version control and seamless publishing to billing, charging and CRM modules.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Easy copying of an existing package to create a template for a new package.
  • Comprehensive package validation before publishing.

The Results

Enterprise Product Catalogue has transformed GO’s ability to innovate and respond quickly to market changes: • Rapid Time-to-Market: New products and services can now go from concept to live launch in a matter of minutes. • Simplified Business Processes: The catalogue-driven approach absorbs all the underlying complexity, streamlining the sales and order management process for users. • Operational Efficiency: With over 2,700 catalogue items managed in one place, GO has slashed manual effort and significantly reduced errors. • Improved Visibility and Control: Version history, change tracking and rollback capabilities give GO complete confidence in managing updates and refining product offerings. “We can configure a new product or price point in just a couple of minutes. Even for a more complex change, we can be live on production within an hour,” comments Ian Galea, Billing Systems Manager at GO. “We manage all the complexity in EPC (Enterprise Product Catalogue) – rules, package configurations, segmentation – making it super simple and seamless for our users and agents.”
