Evergreen

Future-proof Your BSS/OSS Operations with our Evergreen Programme

The Evergreen Software Model provides regular access to new product features and improvements, ensuring that you are always up to date with the latest release (and one step ahead of your competitors).

Agility is the name of the game as communications services providers (CSPs) strive to transform their businesses to compete with more innovative digital services companies. But with BSS/OSS transformation projects often taking between 1 and 3 years, many CSPs find themselves launching with outdated software already in need of an upgrade. In order to stay relevant and respond to an increasingly demanding customer base, CSPs need to be sure they can launch on the latest product version and stay on the product path with access to the latest features and capabilities.

Cerillion’s Evergreen Software Model takes advantage of the latest CI/CD technologies and methodologies to ensure that SaaS customers are kept up to date with the latest releases of our BSS/OSS suite both during and after the initial transformation project. By joining the Evergreen programme, our customers gain not only regular access to new features and improvements, but also benefit from direct participation in the product roadmap.

Cerillion Evergreen FAQs

An evergreen software model provides a structured way for communications service providers to keep their BSS/OSS platform aligned with the latest product developments. Instead of allowing the software to fall several versions behind and then undertaking a large upgrade project, customers follow an agreed schedule of smaller, more predictable upgrades.

This helps CSPs maintain a modern platform, access new features and improvements, and reduce the cost, risk and disruption associated with infrequent, large-scale upgrades.

Cerillion delivers two major software releases each year, giving customers regular access to new features, enhancements and fixes.

During the initial BSS/OSS implementation, upgrades can be incorporated into the programme so that customers go live on a current version of the Cerillion BSS/OSS Suite. Once live, Cerillion and the customer agree a schedule for adopting future releases, providing a predictable upgrade path that reflects the CSP’s operational priorities and approach to risk.

All customers use the same core Cerillion product, configured to meet their specific requirements rather than customised through changes to the underlying software. This common product foundation enables upgrades to be delivered and tested consistently across the customer base.

No. Customers agree an appropriate upgrade schedule with Cerillion and do not have to adopt every release.

For example, a customer might agree to adopt three out of five releases rather than upgrading twice every year. This provides greater flexibility than a model in which every release is automatically introduced, while ensuring upgrades remain regular, planned and manageable.

Traditional BSS/OSS upgrades are often large, standalone projects undertaken after a platform has fallen several releases behind. They can require substantial planning, testing and implementation work before the business gains access to new capabilities.

Cerillion’s Evergreen Software Model replaces this cycle with smaller, more predictable upgrades delivered according to an agreed schedule. This enables CSPs to remain closer to the current product release while reducing the scope, complexity and disruption of each upgrade.

Cerillion’s Evergreen Programme helps CSPs keep their BSS/OSS platform current while reducing the risk and disruption associated with traditional upgrade projects.

Smaller, more predictable upgrades allow customers to plan resources and manage change more effectively. They also provide earlier access to new capabilities, help customers benefit from Cerillion’s ongoing investment in research and development, and prevent a large backlog of changes from accumulating.

Regular upgrades keep customers current not only with the latest Cerillion software, but also with supported releases of the third-party products used within the platform. This enables them to benefit from the latest security updates and fixes, while reducing the risks associated with running older software components.

By following an agreed schedule of smaller, more predictable upgrades, CSPs can maintain a strong security posture without allowing a large backlog of technology and security updates to accumulate.

Each new release is automatically tested against the customer’s specific system configuration before deployment. This is possible because every customer uses the same core Cerillion product, with individual requirements handled through configuration rather than customisation of the underlying software.

This repeatable testing process helps identify potential issues earlier and verifies that the customer’s configuration continues to work as expected. Combined with smaller upgrade increments and an agreed schedule, it makes the scope and impact of each upgrade more predictable and reduces the risk of introducing changes into the live environment.

Yes. Customers participating in the Evergreen Programme can provide input into Cerillion’s ongoing product roadmap.

This gives customers an opportunity to share their priorities and requirements while benefiting from the continued development of a common core product. New capabilities are delivered through Cerillion’s standard product releases, allowing all customers to benefit from ongoing innovation without creating heavily customised, customer-specific versions of the platform.
