Test Lead

Location: Pune, India

Job Description

The role of the Test Lead is to take responsibility for strategizing, designing and executing the detailed test strategy and plan in the allocated project. The Test Lead will also be required to interview, mentor and guide other test analysts/testers. He/she will further liaise with the relevant technical and management stake holders to ensure timely and effective test design, execution and completion in projects.

You should have at least 5-6 years of total experience, in which at least 2-3 should be working in a test lead or senior test analyst capacity preferably in the Telecom domain and should be able to demonstrate experience in some (or preferably all) of the following areas:

  • You are expected to work in highly agile and integrated work environment responsible for validating & delivering end to end working system before it gets delivered to Customer.
  • You are expected to define, design and deliver all testing work, including Functional Testing, System Integration Testing, Regression and support User Acceptance Testing (undertaken by subject matter experts situated within the business) working closely with agile team members.
  • Monitor, measure, control and report to management on Test progress, product quality, Test results and Test Completion.
  • Reproduce, analyze & troubleshoot issues to determine whether the issue requires a code, configuration, or environment fix.
  • Use test plans, systems documentation, business requirements and acceptance criteria to produce test scripts in preparation for test execution.
  • Responsible for maintaining test environments to include software release updates, patches, configuration for environment.
  • Managing software defects in line with project priorities liaising with Project Managers, development team leaders and Clients to ensure defect closure and delivery.
  • Maintain and contribute to product test automation test framework.
  • Mentor and guide junior team members on complex or challenging situations that requires advanced knowledge.
  • Interact with test team and requirements team spread across geographies, to define test plan and schedule
  • Design and execute test cases in the required tools used by the organization to maintain a high quality bar
  • Identify bugs and work with development to take the bugs to closure
  • Create and publish required test metrics to the project team
  • Perform resource planning
  • Participate in project planning meetings and requirement elaborations, estimate, and commit to QA deliverables

mentor junior staff, work with global teams and communicate effectively with all internal &
external stake holders.

Competencies/capabilities – technical/professional
Essential

  • Telecom BSS E2E knowledge – CRM, OMS, Usage Processing & Billing knowledge
  • Good knowledge of Unix scripting, Oracle, PL/SQL scripting is required
  • Understanding & experience with agile software development process
  • Full life cycle testing experience within a structured testing environment (ideally V-Model)
  • Working knowledge of software defect tracking tools like Jira
  • Exposure to support or operations and maintenance role involving customer interaction is an advantage.
  • Knowledge and working experience of Selenium, any performance testing tool is an advantage.

  • Knowledge of API testing using SoapUI/Postman will be a plus

Education

Educated to degree level (or equivalent) in a technical subject – B.E. / B.Tech / MCA
